Call for Application to the 4th ASEAN-KOREA Frontier Forum



IMPORTANT REMINDERS AND DISCLAIMER:

Read the instructions carefully before asking questions.

There are two simultaneous ASEAN-Korea Program applications. This program is different from the ASEAN-Korea Youth Square.

The National Youth Commission received the official communication about the program from the Asia Exchange Association (Organizer) on November 22, 2013 (Friday).

Due to the exigency of the matter and in compliance of the deadline set by the Organizer, applicants are only given eleven (11) days to accomplish and submit the application requirements. Deadline of application is December 3, 2013.


The National Youth Commission opens the application to the 4th ASEAN-KOREA Frontier Forum (4th  AKFF) which will be held on February 14-21, 2013 at the Olympic Parktel, Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK). With the theme MODEL ASEAN-KOREA SUMMIT, the program aims to foster a better understanding of the relationship among the young leaders of ASEAN and ROK. It also intends to discuss the role of youth in strengthening ASEAN-ROK dialogue relations. Three (3) Filipino delegates will be chosen to participate in the eight-day program filled with various activities, such as youth exchanges, debates, and a competition program.

Qualifications:
  1. Filipino Students (college and masteral students with background in Diplomacy, International Relations, International Studies, or Asian Studies)
  2. 18-30 years old
  3. With good communication and debating skills
  4. Able to write resolution papers
  5. Philippine passport holder (valid until September 2014)
  6. Mentally and physically fit to travel
Requirements:
  1. Accomplished NYC International Programs Application Form
  2. Accomplished NYC Volunteer Application Form (for first-time applicants only)
  3. Accomplished AKFF Registration Form
  4. Scanned copy of Official School Registration Form
  5. Scanned copy or valid passport
  6. A mock resolution paper  on any of the following issues:
  • ASEAN – KOREA Economic Cooperation
  • ASEAN – KOREA Partnership for Human Rights
  • ASEAN – KOREA Partnership for Security and Peace
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Cultural Sensitivity
  • Education
  • Government Funding
  • Equal Opportunity in Rural and Urban Areas
  • Business Ethics
Obligations of Delegates:
  • To prepare 5-minute cultural presentation (group presentation)
  • To write post-program policy paper (to be submitted within 2 weeks after the program)
Expenses:
  • Delegates will shoulder their travel expenses from their residence (province) to NAIA and back, as well as their accommodation in Manila for the pre-departure briefing and their travel tax/terminal fee.
  • The organizer will shoulder the delegates’ international airfare (Manila-Seoul-Manila), as well as their food, accommodation, and local transportation in Korea.

The following need not apply:
  • Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from 2011 – 2013 whose airfare, accommodation, and meals were paid for by the organizer; and
  • Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from 2012 – 2013 whose airfare was shouldered by the participants and whose accommodation, and meals were paid for by the organizer.

  • Online applications are preferred
  • Submissions for the ASEAN-Korea Frontier Forum must be submitted to smd.internationalprograms@gmail.com (with Subject Heading: APPLICATION FOR ASEAN-Korea Frontier Forum)
  • FOR PERSONAL APPLICATIONS: Submit your documents in PDF file saved in CD-ROMS at 4F Bookman Building, 373 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
  • FOR SUBMISSIONS THRU COURIER: Send your documents in PDF file saved in CDs to: THE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS DESK, 4F Bookman Building, 373 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
  • Because of the two simultaneous ASEAN-Korea programs, applicants are advised to strictly follow the instructions for submissions. The NYC will not be responsible for application documents which will be lost or sent to wrong e-mail addresses.
  • Deadline for submission is 5:00 PM on December 3, 2013.
